Terex Ecotec, a leading recycled material processing equipment brand, has appointed Cimertex - Sociedade de Máquinas e Equipamentos SA as its new distributor in Portugal.

Founded in Porto in 1964, Cimertex is now a leading distributor of industrial equipment, representing several world-renowned brands across Portugal, Italy and Angola.

Álvaro Bastos, Jr. executive director, Cimertex said: “Cimertex is proud to expand our product offering to the Portuguese environmental market with the addition of world-class Terex Ecotec products. The recycling market in Portugal is small, with only 21% of total waste generated in Portugal currently being recycled. Being in the European Union, where recycling levels are much higher—Portugal has a strong outlook for growth in this sector, with targets to achieve 51% recycling by 2024. We look forward to working with Terex Ecotec to build our expertise in this area and become a major player in the recycling industry here.”

Mark McGlinn, territory sales manager, Terex Ecotec said: “I am delighted to have secured Cimertex as a Terex Ecotec distributor as they come with over 50 years of experience in the sales and maintenance of tools and machinery. Cimertex is well-respected in the waste industry, having had great success with Fuchs and Komatsu, along with a previous good record with Terex crushing and screening equipment, so it is a good match to utilise their expertise in product, parts and service to expand our reach across Portugal and tap into the growing recycling sector there.”
